Climate change

Hello everyone, today I am going to talk about climate change and its possible effects on humanity and wildlife. But first it is necessary to describe the greenhouse effect and greenhouse gases. The first is a phenomenon in which the radiation absorbed on the surface of the planet during the day is captured by the gases present in the atmosphere in the form of heat. On the other hand the second are particulate materials; mainly water vapour, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane and ozone; which have as main feature a great efficiency in absorbing heat, in this particular case the radiation in the form of heat emitted by the earth. Considering that carbon dioxide emissions have increased considerably since the industrial revolution, it can be derived that this particulate material is mainly responsible for the increase in temperature in the atmosphere and the oceans. It is also important to mention that without human interference, carbon from fossil fuels and soil would be released into the atmosphere but in a more gradual way, this is due to volcanic activity. However, the process is accelerated by the burning of carbon, oil, natural gas, excessive agriculture, chemical fertilizers, logging, among others.

Once we have explained all this, we can talk about climate change freely. Its definition describes the alteration in the climate (significant and lasting change), attributed directly or indirectly to human activity, generating devastating problems within the ecosystems. It is important to consider that all existing ecosystems and their components are related to each other, so if one of them is affected by a disturbance or pollutant, it could generate problems to other larger or nearby ecosystems.

What are the effects of climate change?

The main effect it brings is global warming; this increase in temperature affects natural cycles that take place on the planet, increasing the sea level by melting, generating extreme weather events, increasing the temperature of the oceans, this being the main threat to coral reefs that provide between 60% and 80% of oxygen needed for life

What to do about climate change?

There are various actions and positions that one can take in the face of climate change. For example, travel in a sustainable way (electric vehicles, bicycles, scutters, among others); reduce electric energy consumption, recycle, reuse, reduce, compost, cultivate local species, promote the use of renewable energy, among others. While all this contributes to reducing pollutants, we cannot take away the environmental responsibilities of companies, which are the main ones to generate pollutants (something similar when the government calls for taking care of water and it is the mining, agricultural and forestry companies that dry Chile lol)

What about Chile?

Although Chile participates in international agreements, within which it has established its commitments to reduce its emissions at the national level, in order to comply and contribute to a reduction of greenhouse gases at the global level, projects in slaughterhouses that do not contribute to the mitigation of particulate pollutants, and illegal dumping sites, among others, are still approved or underway. We can conclude that current legislation is not sufficient to curb climate change.

MY FUTURE JOB

I am currently studying forest engineering, so I would like a job related to this. I have always liked plants and animals. Thanks to the tools provided by the university, I realized the need and urgency to protect and conserve certain species. That's why I'd like to do something focused on this. I am not a person who likes to be locked up or in front of a computer all the time, so the best job I could have would be an outdoor job. As for whether I would like to travel in this job, I would have no problem, and listening to our teachers who have worked in so many places is very encouraging.

When I finish college I would like to work for a few years, save money and then specialize in some area of biodiversity conservation, I honestly wouldn't care where, as long as I do it, since I find that it is too important an issue, both for humanity and for wildlife. The Universidad Austral seems to be a good option since it has a good environmental focus and a lot of great professionals, plus they have a very large and beautiful campus.

My biggest interests in conservation are birds and plants, this because they are the ones I like the most haha

My pets

Hello, today I will talk about my pets. The first pet that came home was my dog Milú, as the dog of Tin-Tin haha, this was 7 years ago and was found with his brothers in the street, unfortunately I could not take them all home, but if you take her. Milú is small, full brown, obedient, happy and very loyal; she always accompanies me everywhere.

(Me and Milú)

The second pet that came home was a cat that I picked up near my old school, from a house that had many cats and I asked the owner of the house if I could take one and he said yes. My sister named her Sila, after the Turkish TV show hahaha. Since that day it has been about 6 years. Sila is a small cat in spite of her age, she is quite lazy and very affectionate with people; nothing like the common cat.

The relationship between them is something like love-hate, because if you don't ignore them they are fighting, until winter comes and you see them sleeping together. Once my dad told me that a dog from the passage tried to attack the Sila but the Milú got in the way and prevented my cat from getting hurt. We were all shocked when he told it, because nobody expected such behavior from her. Both of them have given me a lot of love and support in all kinds of moments. They are a fundamental pillar in my life and in my family's life.

Post 3: Quarantine Hobbies

At the time the quarantine started in Santiago de Chile, I was too bored and didn't know what to do, I felt I had too much time for myself, something I didn't always have. I started playing guitar again, reading ( topics that mattered to me, not university texts), drawing, watching anime or series, among many other activities. Although the global context looks a bit devastating, in my personal case, I found myself again and realized the things I liked and that makes me happy.

Recently I have dedicated to cooking, I have copied some recipes that I have seen on the internet, some easier than others, but there is always my mom or dad to ask, since they both know a lot about cooking. I've also done some sport too, like riding a bike or jogging, but I'm not very good at the latter, I prefer to ride a bike completely. But principally I have dedicated myself to take care of the garden of my house together with my mom, who like me is a person passionate for the plants.

At the time they established the quarantine I had not dimensioned the amount of time I would have for my family and me, but within all the bad things one has to highlight at least a few good things.

POST 1 >> A COUNTRY I'D LIKE TO VISIT

Hi everyone, today i'm going to talk about a one country i would like to visit and this is Australia. I would like to visit this country because it has a lot of wild life and i love so much the diversity present here . We can found a lot of endemic (living beings whose distribution is restricted to a certain geographical area, be it a province, region, country or continent) species, like koalas, kangaroos, big spiders, snakes, wombats, among other. Unfortunately all present life is in danger due to the climate crisis that is being experienced in the world.

To be honest, I don't know much about the culture there, but I would. I would also like to take naratual tours, visit the national parks that exist there, probably go to Sydney (but I prefer the natural areas).

I would not like to live in Australia, because i dont like hot summers, and there it is hot. I could probably study about the wild life present there but I wouldn't stay to live

Post N°2 The best Concert ever

The best concert i have ever been to was the concert of the cure in the national stadium on 2013 with my dad, that day was one of my favorites. i think i was 14-15 years old. The concert lasted 3 and a half hours. It was a lot but they have a huge discography with many hits to play. It was great for my dad and me because we both really enjoyed the music and concerts.

The voice and energy of Robert, vocalist of the band, is the same as his records and he was like 55 years old at that, currently like 60. The band has a spectacular live sound, a lot of experience and quality. The cure have never been in Chile before, it was the first time in 35 years of carrer and they were greeted by 50,000 people. It was a really historic moment for the Chilean concert and I feel very lucky to have been there with my father, especially since there were only adults and no children.
